Pictorial FrequencyTable

Frequency Table

Frequency of a particular data is the number of times it occurs.

A frequency table is a table that lists the items. It is constructed by dividing the scores into intervals and counting the number of scores in each interval.

In the following table, the values are collected and arranged in ascending order of magnitude.

Example: Consider the following data:

In a class of 75 students, all are interested in various games. Their numbers in the respective games are tabulated in a frequency table below. Assume that no student is interested in more than one game.

Game

No. of Students

Chess

8

Badminton

20

Cricket

18

Table Tennis

6

Football

11

Basket Ball

12

Total

75

From the above table, let us find the total number of students who are interested in Chess, Badminton and Basket Ball.

  • 8 + 20 + 12 = 40
